PROPAGATION PARTY

April 5, 2008      10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Come join us in kicking off the 2008 growing season with a fun, family-friendly event that’s become a Weavers Way Farm tradition over its formative years.  The Propogation Party is all about planting seeds and transplanting young seedlings to get all the good stuff like tomoatoes, basil, peppers, and baby bok choy growing.  Get your hands dirty or just come buy some starters for your own garden.  Kids activities will include painting small pots before planting seeds in them and a chance to be the first kids to romp in the farm’s new children’s garden.  For more information, visit the farm’s webpage  and for those who definitely want to help plant, please email farmer@weaversway.coop.

In case of rain, this event will be held on April 6th instead.

PLANTING PARTY

May 10, 2008      9 a.m. - ?

This is the BIG DAY, the day on which  the farm’s staff hopes all the major summer crops will get planted in one fell swoop!  Tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and herbs will all put their tender transplanted roots into the ground for the first time.  Come be part of the fun and excitment and help accomplish something really important for the farm’s productivity over the season.  For the sake of efficient productivity, we are asking that only those over 15 years of age attend this event.

If planting hundreds of young plants wasn’t enough excitment already, there will also be a performance by traditional English Morris Dancers honoring an age-old way of celebrating the month of May and the summer’s new growth.   These dancers are worth the trip to the farm alone and kids are welcome to come watch this part of the festivities.  For more information, visit the farm’s webpage.  For those definitely wanting to help plant, please email farmer@weaversway.coop to RSVP.

Come rain or shine, unless there’s a really bad storm.
